In September 2020, ESKOM deployed ROTAMARKA Bird Diverters on a transmission line in Cape Town. This was specifically to prevent The Great White Pelicans from colliding with power lines in this area in Vissershok. With the support of The Endangered Wildlife Trust, this project was completed with the intent of preventing injury and mortality of the pelicans while preventing potential power line damage or outages on the network. Due to the difficulty in accessing these lines, a helicopter was employed to facilitate the installation. This proved an efficient and effective means of deploying the bird diverters.
